Twenty years ago, I stepped off the Greyhound bus at the Arcata Transit Center. It was a giant leap into the unknown. My goal, after completing A.A. and A.S. at a community college, was to finish my undergraduate coursework at Humboldt State. As an undergraduate with a knack for web development, I developed one of the Discovery Museum’s first websites and worked on layout and design at Regional Visitor Publications.
After two semesters, I decided to pursue a B.A. in Communications (Advertising) with a minor in Business (Marketing) at CSU Fullerton. However, I never applied for graduation due to an abusive marriage and subsequent divorce during my senior year. Since that time, my professional career has focused on integrated marketing communications, revenue development projects and improving systems with both non-profit organizations and private companies.
With about 170 undergraduate units under my belt, I recently completed my Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an Individualized Degree Plan of Study (IDP) focused in Human Experience Design Interaction (HXDI). One-third of the units for a Masters degree in Engineering & Community Practice have also been completed, with the ultimate goal of completing this degreee in 2025.
